“Completely funded by his work as a set builder on several Robert Rodriguez films, Austin filmmaker Will Martin wrote, directed, and produced Urban Vengeance - a high-speed adventure on a 15K budget, accomplishing what Collider described as looking ‘like it cost at least four times that amount.’ With his own make-shift equipment and a crew ranging from 0 to 3, Martin pumped out a solid popcorn flick complete with explosions, gunfights, and car chases. The story is delivered as a quick-witted swashbuckler while touching on heavy, contemporary themes. The movie is not short of a sense of humor and there are plenty of interesting sub-plots to keep you thinking about the film long after viewing."-Rand Shuler, producer, Urban Vengeance
"He [Martin] refers to a decade of experience as an IATSE member working construction on film sets, but has since moved to Australia where he works as a carpenter and studies international relations while hoping to make a movie called SHOREBREAK that would be “a sci-fi allegory for international relations that will explore anarchy.” It’s a shame if someone who showed such youthful go-getter spirit couldn’t kickstart a career as a filmmaker if that’s what he wanted, but I don’t know how many American-Australian carpenters you’ll meet who once directed and starred in a low budget movie where they rode around on a skateboard with an uzi fighting cartels and corrupt Border Patrol agents and guys named Blade, Ice and Gator. That’s a cool brag and I would definitely hold my head high if I were him.”-Outlaw Vern
"[Urban Vengeance] marks the arrival of a new director worth watching."-Scott Wampler, Collider
"Will Martin knows his action movies. He knows how to shoot an engaging action scene with limited resources (love all the skateboard as weapon moments) and knows that those scenes would be nothing without compelling characters and a story with heart. Do all the dramatic elements work? No, but I really commend how good most of it is for a first try (also the legit political commentary?? It’s weirdly effective and relevant). Also, the guy who plays The King [Kelvin Girdy] is a really good actor and steals every scene he’s in. Same goes for the guy who plays Alec [Seth Barton].I genuinely love this movie and wish more people knew it exists. It’s free on Tubi and only 78 minutes so there’s no reason not to watch it.”-"NathanielOfTheParadis,"viewer
